FAQ'S

Common Questions

Here you will find answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about our products and services. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, please feel free to contact us.

uPVC windows require very little maintenance to keep them in good condition. The main thing you’ll need to do is to keep them clean. You can clean uPVC frames with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, or use a mild detergent specifically designed for cleaning uPVC. Avoid using abrasive cleaning products or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the surface of the frames.

In addition to cleaning, it’s a good idea to lubricate the moving parts of your windows, such as the hinges and locks, every few months to keep them operating smoothly. Use a silicone-based lubricant for this purpose.

Another important aspect of maintaining your windows is to make sure that they are properly sealed. Over time, the sealant around the edges of the window may deteriorate, allowing drafts and water to enter. If you notice any signs of damage to the sealant, it’s important to have it repaired as soon as possible to prevent any further damage.

Overall, uPVC windows are very low maintenance, and with regular cleaning and lubrication, they should last for many years with minimal upkeep.

uPVC windows and doors are available in a variety of styles, designed to suit different architectural styles and personal preferences. Some of the most popular styles include:

  1. Casement windows: These are hinged on one side and open outward, like a door. They are a popular choice for residential properties and are available in a range of sizes and configurations.

  2. Sliding windows: These windows have one or more sashes that slide horizontally to open and close. They are a great option for rooms with limited space, and are available in a variety of designs.

  3. Tilt and turn windows: These windows have the ability to tilt inwards at the top for ventilation or open inwards like a door. They are a versatile and practical option for homes and are also popular in commercial properties.

  4. Bay windows: These are a combination of windows that project out from the wall of the building and are often used to create a more spacious and open feel to a room.

  5. French doors: These doors have two panels that open from the center and are often used as a stylish and practical way to connect indoor and outdoor living spaces.

  6. Bi-folding doors: These doors are made up of several panels that fold back to create an open, uninterrupted opening. They are becoming increasingly popular for use in conservatories, orangeries and also as room dividers.

All these styles can come in various designs, colors and glazing options, so you can customize them to suit your specific needs and preferences.

  1. Casement windows: These windows have one or more sashes that hinge on one side and open outward. They can be opened fully for maximum ventilation or partially for controlled airflow.

  2. Tilt and turn windows: These windows have a dual-function mechanism that allows them to be tilted inwards for ventilation or opened fully for cleaning.

  3. Sliding windows: These windows have one or more sashes that slide horizontally, making them ideal for tight spaces or rooms with limited space.

  4. Bay windows: These windows are made up of a combination of casement or sliding windows that project outwards from the wall and create a bay-like space inside the room.

  5. Awning windows: These windows are hinged at the top and open outward, allowing for ventilation while keeping rain and snow out.

  6. Picture windows: These windows are fixed and don’t open, they are used to provide a large clear view and let in natural light

  7. Hopper windows: These windows are hinged at the bottom and open inward, commonly used in basements, bathrooms or other damp spaces.

Overall, uPVC windows come in a wide variety of styles, so you should be able to find something that meets your needs and matches the style of your home.

uPVC windows and doors come in a wide range of colours. The most common colors are white, beige, and brown, but they can also be made in other colors such as gray, black and even wood grain finishes to mimic the look of wooden windows.

Many manufacturers offer a wide range of color options for their uPVC windows and doors, so you should be able to find something that matches the color scheme of your home. Some manufacturers even offer a bespoke color matching service, which allows you to choose a specific color to match the existing color of your home, or any other color you want.

Additionally, some manufacturers offer a dual-color option, which allows you to have a different color on the inside and outside of the window or door. This can be a great option if you want to match the color of the window or door to the interior of your home but still want the exterior to blend in with the surrounding architecture.

In summary, uPVC windows and doors are available in a wide range of colors, from standard white, beige and brown to more unique colors and even wood grain finishes. Many manufacturers offer bespoke color matching service and dual-color options to meet your design needs.

uPVC windows and doors are known for their energy efficiency. The material itself is a great insulator, which helps to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Additionally, most uPVC windows and doors come with double or triple glazing as standard, which further improves their energy efficiency. The space between the panes of glass is filled with argon gas, which is a better insulator than air.

The energy efficiency of uPVC windows and doors can be further enhanced by adding low-e coatings to the glass. These coatings help to reflect heat back into the room, reducing the amount of heat lost through the windows. They also help to block UV rays, which can cause damage to your furniture and flooring.

Another way to improve the energy efficiency of uPVC windows and doors is to choose products with a high energy rating. Look for windows and doors that carry the Energy Star label, which is a certification that indicates a product meets certain energy efficiency standards.

Overall, uPVC windows and doors are a great choice for homeowners looking to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. They are easy to maintain, long-lasting and can help to reduce your energy costs.

uPVC windows and doors are considered very safe for a number of reasons. First, the material itself is strong and durable, making it difficult to break or damage. Additionally, most uPVC windows and doors come with multiple locking points as standard, which makes them very secure.

Another safety feature of uPVC windows and doors is that they are designed to be difficult to open from the outside. This means that it is difficult for intruders to break in through a uPVC window or door.

Many uPVC windows and doors also come with additional security features such as key-operated locks, shootbolts, and anti-lift devices which are designed to provide additional security and peace of mind.

Lastly, most modern uPVC windows and doors are designed to meet or exceed the latest building regulations and standards for security, so you can be sure that they meet the highest standards of safety and security.

In summary, uPVC windows and doors are a very safe and secure option for your home or business, with multiple locking points, strong and durable material, and additional security features available.

uPVC windows and doors are known for their longevity and durability. Under normal conditions, uPVC windows and doors can last for decades, up to 20-30 years or more. This is due to the properties of the uPVC material which is resistant to rot, warping, fading, and corrosion.

Proper installation and maintenance are also key factors that can help to prolong the lifespan of uPVC windows and doors. Regular cleaning and lubrication of the moving parts, such as hinges and locking mechanisms, can help to ensure that they continue to operate smoothly and efficiently.

It’s also important to note that, like any other product, a uPVC window’s lifespan may be affected by various factors such as exposure to harsh weather conditions, poor installation, or lack of maintenance.

Overall, uPVC windows and doors are a great investment for your home or business, providing long-lasting performance, energy efficiency, and durability.
